'Roos Take Down IUPUI, 1-0
(Indianapolis, Ind.) - Sunday afternoon, the UMKC women's soccer team (4-6-3, 1-1 SL) picked up its first Summit League win of the season with a 1-0 victory over the IUPUI Jaguars (2-10-1, 0-1-1 SL).
In the first half, neither squad was able to break through as the Kangaroos held the shot-count, 7-1.
During the 74th minute, Kansas City notched the lone goal of the afternoon when midfielder Catherine Hawn (1) found midfielder/forward Hunter Wagoner (2) on the right side deep in IUPUI territory for the score.
For the rest of the contest, the Kangaroos were able to hold off the Jaguars as they were able to bounce back from a 4-1 loss on Friday at Western Illinois.
In the net, freshman Megan Goetzinger saved two shots as she picked up the win in her first career start. As a team, the Kangaroos were able to hold IUPUI to six shots, while Kansas City registered 16.
Coming up, the Blue & Gold will return home for a season long three-game homestand, beginning with Omaha on Oct. 7 at 1 p.m.
