RU Puts 3 on NSCAA All-Region Teams

Three Rangers Earn NSCAA/Continental Tire All-South Central Region; Maybin and Seitz to First Team
KANSAS CITY, Kan.: Three Regis men's soccer athletes garnered NSCAA All-South Central Region status today after guiding the Rangers to their second straight NCAA Sweet 16 bid and win, and their first ever NCAA Elite 8 game in the sport's history at RU.
Senior Garrett Seitz and junior Martin Maybin earned prestigious first team honors while senior Mark Kelly earned an equally as welcome spot on the second team.
Regis finished 14-4-1 overall and 11-2-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference this season, after being supported by a strong offensive and defensive staff this season. As a team, the Rangers topped the RMAC in five separate categories and came second in two, finishing nationally ranked 11th in total assists, 14th in total points, 15th in points per game and win-loss-tied percentage, 16th in scoring offense and total goals and 17th in assists per game.
Leading the back line was senior defender Garrett Seitz who earned First Team honors. He helped the Rangers to a 1.74 goals against average with only 34 goals allowed and three shutouts while putting up one assist on the season.
Along with this award, the Broomfield, Colo. native garnered All-RMAC Third Team, and a plethora of academic awards including CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-America and All-District First Team, Academic All-RMAC First Team and the RMAC Summit Award.
The Rangers' other First Team pick, Maybin led the Ranger offense after ranking first in the RMAC in six separate categories. The native of Belfast, Northern, Ireland ranked fourth in the nation in points per game and total points, fifth in total goals, sixth in goals per game, 14th in total assists and 25th in assists per game. He owned 17 goals and nine assists for 43 points on the season, while putting up an impressive 61.4 shot on goal percentage after putting 43 of his 70 shots on goal. He also amassed six game-winning goals and went 3-4 on penalty kick attempts.
Along with this award, Maybin was named All-RMAC First Team and Daktronics All-America Second Team and All-District First Team.
On Second Team for Regis was fellow forward Mark Kelly. The senior out of Antrim, Northern Ireland put in quite the effort for the Rangers this season. Throughout 2013, he netted 14 goals, including three game-winners, while assists on seven others for 35 total points. He put 24 of his 52 shots on goal for a 46.2 shot on goal percentage and ranked nationally in six separate categories including assists per game, goals per game, points per game and total assists, goals and points.
His 2013 awards include All-RMAC First Team, Daktronics All-District Second Team, CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-America Second Team and All-District First Team, Academic All-RMAC First Team and Academic All-RMAC Player of the Year.
Both Seitz and Maybin will qualify for NSCAA All-American status, to be voted on by coaches throughout the nation later in the month.
