RU Ties ASU 1-1 at the Regis Match Pitch
DENVER, Colo.: Regis women's soccer (2-2-1, 0-1-1 RMAC) tied the Grizzlies of Adams State today in a grueling double overtime match set at home in Denver.
Regis scored within the first two minutes of play after senior CC Rinehart brought the ball down and crossed over to fellow senior Meghan Stuart. Stuart redirected the ball giving senior Rachel McMahon the opportunity to slide through the Grizzlies' defense and send the ball through to the back of the net.
Regis maintained the lead until early into the second half. Eight minutes into the half, Adams sent a corner kick towards the goal that was cleared to the edge of the 18 yard box by the Ranger defense.
An ASU midfielder picked up the opening and scored through to the left of the net.
The Grizzlies' goalkeeper put up 12 saves against the Rangers 13 shots on goal. Senior goalie Ellen Augsburger had four saves of her own on the day.
Regis will hit the road for a short trip to Colorado School of Mines on Friday, September 27 before returning home to take on Colorado Mesa on Sunday, September 29 for their next RMAC competitions.
