Saint Peter’s Sneaks Past Women’s Soccer
LOUDONVILLE, NY – Brooke Boutchie’s 28th minute goal was the difference as Saint Peter’s defeated Siena Women’s Soccer 1-0 at Siena Field. Taylor Dorado made three saves for the Saints which saw their five-match unbeaten streak snapped.
Siena (2-6-3, 0-1-1) held a commanding 19-6 advantage in shots – including a 14-1 margin in the second half – and a 6-2 edge in corners. But the Saints were unable to solve Victoria Scarratt who made nine saves to post the shutout victory for Saint Peter’s (3-6, 1-1).
Boutchie scored on a free kick from 25 yards out to the right which she roofed home to propel the Peacocks to their first victory in the series in 21 years.
Emily McNelis led the way with five shots and Katrina Kurtz put three of her four attempts on goal for Siena which fell for just the eighth time in 28 MAAC home openers.
The Saints will look to rebound Wednesday when they host Canisius at 3 p.m.
