Saints Stifle Marist
LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – Brittany Pfaff scored her 11th goal in 12 matches and the defense did the rest as Siena Women’s Soccer shutout defending MAAC Regular Season Champion Marist 1-0. Taylor Booth made four saves to post her second straight shutout.
Pfaff netted her fourth game-winning goal of the season in the 66th minute. The senior captain who entered the week ranking 10th nationally in scoring and 12th in goals, added to her already gaudy totals in finishing a long pass from Katie Zambrano.
But the defense was the story for Siena (6-5-1, 2-1-1). The Saints stingy backline held Marist (4-6-2, 2-2) to just four shots over the final 72 minutes and Booth did the rest as Siena improved to 6-1 at home.
During their three-match unbeaten streak, the Saints have allowed an average of just eight shots per match and nine total shots on target. In four MAAC contests, Siena has bequeathed just 11 shots on goal.
Alycia Cartica led Marist with three shots and Andrea Wicks made three saves.
The Saints have a week off before returning to action next Wednesday for a 4 p.m. match at Niagara.
