Santa Clara women's soccer adds nine
With signing day in the books, the incoming set of women's soccer players has been finalized for Santa Clara. The 2015 signing class consists of both national and international talent, many of whom boasting prestigious accolades on both a team and individual level.
"We are thrilled to have such a deep and talented 2015 class," said Head Coach Jerry Smith. "It fills a number of holes for us. We are very excited to welcome these players to the Santa Clara women's soccer program. We know they will be a great addition to our program and the greater university."
The list of nine new Bronco student-athletes includes Grace Cutler, currently attending Santa Clara University and from Fossil Ridge High School, Alyssa Fiddes from San Diego, Calif. and Cathedral Catholic High School, Ellen Gibson from Stockholm, Sweden and Varmdo Gymnasium, Janae Gonzalez from Folsom, Calif. and Vista del Lago High School, Jazmin Jackmon from South Pasadena, Calif. and South Pasadena High School, Emily Jensen from Nelson, New Zealand and Waimea College, Melissa Lowder, also from San Diego, Calif. and Cathedral Catholic High School, Duffy Moyer from Rancho Sante Fe, Calif. and the third newcomer from Cathedral Catholic High School, and Carley Robertson from Pleasanton, Calif. and Foothill High School.
This class features a number of unique scenarios that are distinctive from previous Santa Clara recruiting history. Cutler, already nestled in on the Mission Campus, is currently enrolled at the university and taking classes. Jensen will join Cutler in the spring when she will also begin her course work ahead of schedule. Additionally, Gonzalez, Gibson and Jensen are each members of their respective national teams and all have experience competing at the U-17 World Cup.
The newest additions to the Broncos' squad will join a team that, as of next season, will have four seniors, four redshirt juniors, four juniors, seven sophomores and five redshirt sophomores.
