SDSU pushed into the Coyotes’ half of the field early, recording three shots (two on goal) in the first four minutes of the game.

The Jackrabbits’ pressure did not let up and paid off early.

In the 17th minute, junior Christa Nyblom scored her fourth goal of the season and gave the Jackrabbits a 1-0 lead.

The goal ties her for the team lead.

On the assist was Kayla Braffet, who is now tied for first in career assist scoring at SDSU with 18 career assists. SDSU graduate Kellyn Farrell set the original mark from 2005-08.

The Jacks were on the offensive the entire first half. SDSU outshot USD 11-6, including a 6-3 shots on goal advantage. Corner kicks were 3-2 in favor of the Coyotes.

The Jacks committed three fouls and was called offside twice in the first half. South Dakota was not called for a foul or flagged for offside in the first half.

Senior goalkeeper Kat Donovan made three saves in the first half.

The second half began the same way the first half had begun, as SDSU forced the Coyotes’ goalkeeper to make two saves early on.

Then, like clockwork, sophomore Abby Jurgens added an insurance goal for the Jacks 23 minutes into the second half.

Cori Bonte was credited with the assist.

The play gave Jurgens three goals on the season and Bonte two assists.

USD tried to climb back into the game, but the Jackrabbits’ defense was too strong, as was Donovan.

SDSU held USD statistical leader Teslow to a single shot.

The final score was 2-0 in favor of SDSU.

SDSU has held its opponents scoreless for 679 straight minutes; the last 650 coming in conference play.

Donovan made six saves en route to her 10^th save of the season, tying her for the most saves in a single season in both Summit League history and SDSU history. SDSU graduate Nicole Lograsso set the original mark in 2008.

Braffet led the offensive attack for the Jacks with seven shots and four shots on goal.

"I give credit to USD for playing a good, hard fought game," head coach Lang Wedemeyer said. "We were pretty dynamic in our attack, but a bit unfocused today. Having said that, it is great that we are finding ways to get important results in conference play."

The win secures a spot in the four-team Summit League Tournament. The tournament is set to take place in Rochester, Mich., from Nov. 4-6.

Next up for the Jacks is a game at UMKC.

The Jackrabbits face the Kangaroos for the third time in school history, the fewest of any conference opponent. SDSU has won the two games played against UMKC.

Last season, the Jacks beat the Kangaroos 3-0 in Kansas City, Mo.

Last weekend, UMKC played in only one game, beating South Dakota 2-1 on Saturday in Kansas City, Mo.

The win made UMKC 5-0-0 in the conference and 7-5-3 overall. The Kangaroos are in third place in the conference standings, one spot behind the Jacks.
