Kingston, RI – The Wagner women's soccer team concludes its first road trip of the 2018 season when the Seahawks travel to Kingston, RI on Thursday evening to square off against the University of Rhode Island Rams.
Last Time Out: @ Fairfield (August 24, 2018 | Lost, 4-1)
- Wagner recorded its lone score of the contest in the 81st minute as Fairfield was assessed a foul and the referee awarded the Seahawks a penalty kick.
- Senior captain, Peyton Beck, calmly stepped up and delivered a strike that sent the ball to the top right corner of the net, putting the visitors on the board.
- Sophomore Le'la Allen, Beck and fellow team captain, Maria Nunez, were credited with a shot attempt.
- Senior goalkeeper Katie Viscardi played the first half against the Stags, stopping four shots on ten shots faced. Junior netminder, Delaney Beck, started the second half, stopping three shots on nine shots faced.
Wagner – Rhode Island Series History:
- Wagner and Rhode Island will be meeting for just the third time in program history with the Rams holding a 2-0 lead in the head-to-head series.
- These schools last met back on September 23, 2016 at Hameline Field with URI earning a 2-0 victory.
Wagner vs. Atlantic 10 Members:
- The Seahawks will be squaring off against a current member of the Atlantic 10 conference for the 19th time in program history as the Green & White look for its first win ever over an A-10 school (0-17-1).
- The tie came back on October 9, 2001 when Wagner battled Fordham to a 0-0 draw on Staten Island.
Viscardi Climbing The All-Time Saves List:
- Senior goalkeeper Katie Viscardi played the first half against the Stags, stopping four shots on ten shots faced.
- For Viscardi, it upped her career total to 135 saves, which ranks fourth on the all-time career saves list. The Hazlet, NJ native needs 47 saves to move into sole possession of third place, which is currently occupied by former Seahawk netminder, Katie Marcy ('14), who finished with 182 career stops.
About The University of Rhode Island:
- URI has totaled four goals so far this season,with each coming from Brooke Osmanski and Kelly Mayo.
- Rebecca D'Anna leads the team with two assists while Tory Bike has added the other helper for Rhode Island.
- Haley Brennan has started two of the three games for the Rams in goal, allowing six tallies while making 12 saves.
- Julia Freeman, who made the start against Dartmouth on August 26, made three saves against the Big Green but allowed the golden goal in the 91st minute as URI fell 1-0 to Dartmouth.

- Wagner returns back home to Hameline Field on Sunday, September 2, when the Seahawks welcome Iona College to Grymes Hill.
- The Seahawks – Gaels contest will mark the 12th all-time meeting between the two New York-based schools, with Iona holding a 5-4-2 advantage in the head-to-head series.
- These teams tied last season in New Rochelle, 2-2, back on September 10, 2017. Delaney Beck made eight saves in the contest.
