September 28, 2014
Lowell, Mass. - The #Seawolves (3-7, 0-1 America East) dropped their conference opener to UMass-Lowell (4-6, 1-0 America East) on Sunday despite receiving a goal from redshirt sophomore Raven Edwards (West Orange, N.J.), her fourth of the season.
Ryan's Reaction
"We need better execution to win conference games," said Ryan. "We also have bear down and finish our chances when we get them. Now, we have to put this one behind us and focus on the next game."
Goal Recaps
- The #Seawolves got off to a shaky start, allowing Emily Bracken to score just 2:36 in to give the River Hawks a 1-0 lead.
- Edwards responded with an unassisted marker in the ninth minute to draw Stony Brook square at 1-1.
- The game stayed 1-1 until the 78th minute when Sinead O'Callaghan scored from a corner kick.
- In the 85th minute, Brittany Russo scored a breakaway goal to seal the River Hawks' win.

- Stony Brook outshot UMass Lowell 13-12 but the River Hawks put eight shots on target compared to the Seawolves five.
- Sophomore Leah Yurko (Cumberland, Md.) took a team-high four shots.
