#Seawolves fall at Albany, 2-1
October 19, 2014
Albany, N.Y. - The #Seawolves couldn't erase an early two goal hole, falling to Albany 2-1 in an end-to-end affair.
Ryan Reaction
"After Tessa's goal, we created a number of chances but just couldn't convert one to tie it up," Ryan said. "I liked how our team kept fighting, but in the end we came up a goal shy."
Goal Recaps
- Leanne Miller nullified a strong Seawolves start with her 43rd minute goal. Her shot from 30 yards out beat Castanio up high.
- Alexa Schneider scored five minutes into the second half to give Albany a 2-0 lead. Castanio had no chance as Schneider let fly from 10 yards out.
- Junior Tessa Devereaux (Fayetteville, N.Y.) energized Stony Brook with a left-footed blast from 25 yards out to pull the Seawolves within a goal. It was her second goal of the season.
Highlights
- The Seawolves put Albany under heavy pressure in the game's first 10 minutes. Their best chance came off the foot of freshman Maddie Good (Palmyra, Pa.) who's lunging shot went off the crossbar.
- Stony Brook seized momentum after Devereaux's goal, creating multiple chances down the stretch. With 25 minutes to play, redshirt sophomore Raven Edwards (West Orange, N.J.) dribbled to the end line and cut a ball back to sophomore Elise Pratt (Sicklerville, N.J.) but her well-struck shot was deflected over by the goalkeeper.
- Edwards again created an opportunity when she outmuscled a defender for a ball in the box but her shot was deflected. The rebound came out to Devereaux who also struck her shot into a defender.

- Stony Brook outshot Albany 20-14 for the match and held a 7-6 advantage in shots on goal.
- Devereaux attempted a team-high six shots. She also had two shots on goal, tied for the team lead with redshirt junior Regan Bosnyak (West Hartford, Conn.)
