#Seawolves lose to Binghamton 5-1
November 1, 2014
Binghamton, N.Y. - Stony Brook's Alejandro Fritz (Budapest Hungary) scored his third goal of the season late in the first half to tie the game at 1-1 but the Binghamton Bearcats scored four second half goals to win 5-1. Despite the loss, the #Seawolves managed to secure a playoff spot thanks to UMass Lowell's victory over New Hampshire earlier in the day.
Goal Recaps
- Bret Celeste opened the scoring in the 12th minute when he corralled a rebound from a free kick and hammered it home.
- Fritz tied the game in the 42nd minute with a clinical finish. He got on the end of a cross from freshman Danny Espinoza (East Meadow, N.Y.) and deftly chipped it over the charging goalkeeper.
- Logan Roberts broke the tie just a minute into the second half with a header after he was left free on the far post.
- The score would stay at 2-1 until the 81st minute when Pascal Trapp redirected a cross over Orban's shoulder and inside the far post.
- The fourth goal was credited as an own goal as a Bearcat corner kick went off a Stony Brook defender and into the goal.
- Luca Bottoni rounded out the scoring in the 88th minute, getting enough on his shot to sneak it past goalkeeper Jason Orban (Manorville, N.Y.).
