<p>LOS ANGELES, Calif. &ndash; Three second half goals led the Mustangs to a 3-1 win over Loyola Marymount in a non-conference game on <span id="OBJ_PREFIX_DWT94_com_zimbra_date" class="Object"><span id="OBJ_PREFIX_DWT96_com_zimbra_date" class="Object">Friday</span></span> afternoon in the season-opener for both teams. Cal Poly will return to action on <span id="OBJ_PREFIX_DWT95_com_zimbra_date" class="Object"><span id="OBJ_PREFIX_DWT97_com_zimbra_date" class="Object">Sunday</span></span> at noon when the team will host CSU Bakersfield in the team&rsquo;s home opener, admission is free.</p> <p><br />The Mustang offense came alive in the second period to score three goals to lead the team to victory behind freshman goalie Alyssa Giannetti, making her first start between the posts as a Mustang, and her nine saves.</p> <p><br />The Mustangs opened the game with three shots in the first four minutes of play with Lancaster taking two. But LMU got on the board first with a one touch pass from the left side to the top of the box where Cori McGovern put it in the back of the net in the 21st minute of the first period.</p> <p><br />The first period ended with LMU leading 1-0 with Cal Poly goalie Alyssa Giannetti making three saves in the period. After a flurry of shots by Cal Poly in the first four minutes of the game the team added just one more the rest of the period. LMU took six shots in the half.</p> <p><br />The Mustangs got on the board when Cristina Farrington came off the bench and received a quick pass from Kacey Held for an open net goal in the 54th minute.</p> <p><br />The Mustangs took the lead in the 58th minute when Jess Duller&rsquo;s shot deflected off a defender and into the net. LMU responded with three shots, trying to tie the game, over the next minute and a half.</p> <p><br />Cal Poly added to its lead when freshman Elise Krieghoff scored a goal in the 69th minute of play when Julie McKee fed her the ball for a shot 30 yards to the far post.</p> <p><br />Cal Poly had seven shots in the final period with Farrington and Sara Epps coming off the bench to fire off three shots.</p> <p>Giannetti earned the win between the posts with nine saves after facing 14 shots, 10 on goal.</p> <p><br /> Brittany Jagger took the loss for LMU in goal with three saves.</p> <p><br />Overall Cal Poly took 11 shots with six on goal while LMU took 14 shots, 10 on goal.</p>
