Siena Signs Lexi Canavally
LOUDONVILLE, NY – This year’s incoming Siena Women’s Soccer recruiting class is now officially the largest in program history. Head Coach Steve Karbowski has announced the signing of local star Lexi Canavally as the ninth member of the Saints’ Class of 2022.
“Lexi is a dynamic striker with a great combination of technical ability and the physical tools of strength and power,” said Karbowski. “She is a proven goal scorer, and can finish in a variety of ways. Her ability to hold up the ball in possession and create opportunities around the box give her the potential to be a complete striker. Lexi has the talent to be an impact player on the offensive end right away.”
Canavally joins previous signees Leslie Adams, Morgan Camarda, Sinead Carroll, Julianna Kissane, Carrie Krohn, Emily McNelis, Brianna Montinard, and Ashleigh Sarafin in comprising the Siena Women’s Soccer Class of 2022.
A native of nearby Schenectady, New York, Canavally amassed 55 goals and 33 assists spanning a decorated four-year varsity career at Mohonasen High School. A four-time Suburban Council First Team selection, she was named the Suburban Council Co-Player of the Year last fall. Canavally also earned All-New York State Third Team acclaim in addition to being named a Sports Writers First Team All-Star following her senior season. Canavally, who led Mohonasen to the Section II Class A Championship her junior season, has also played nine years of club soccer with Capital United.
Canavally joins a Siena Women’s Soccer program which posted an 11-8 overall record last season and finished fourth in the MAAC with a 6-4 league mark. The Saints are expected to return eight starters this fall – including leading scorer Gabby Albano and starting goalkeeper Taylor Dorado – in addition to welcoming in nine new freshmen.
