Siena Soccer Programs Earn Academic Honors
LOUDONVILLE, NY – Both Siena Soccer programs have been heralded as 2016-17 United Soccer Coaches College Team Academic Award Winners. Siena College was one of just 196 schools across all levels of collegiate soccer to have both of its soccer programs recognized for meeting the criteria of maintaining a cumulative team grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
This marks the 15th consecutive season in which the Siena Women’s Soccer program has won the award, while the men’s soccer squad earned acclaim for the fifth time in the past seven years.
The women’s soccer team accrued a 3.39 cumulative GPA during the 2016-17 school year. The Saints boasted 20 student athletes who maintained GPAs of 3.0 or better, 12 MAAC All-Academic Team selections, and five 4.0 Club members.
The men’s soccer program achieved a 3.25 cumulative GPA last school year. The Saints had 15 student athletes achieve GPAs in excess of a 3.0, seven MAAC All-Academic Team selections, and three 4.0 Club honorees.
