Siena's Dorado and Monds Earn MAAC Honors
LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena Women’s Soccer goalie Taylor Dorado and forward Jayanna Monds earned Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference weekly awards. This is Dorado’s second weekly award of the early season, and Monds’ first of the season.
A native of Guilderland, New York, Dorado earned her second straight defensive player of the week award, and second of her career. She dazzled in Siena’s 2-0 shutout of tournament host Mercer Friday night at the Mercer Invitational making a career-high 14 saves to record a clean slate. The Bears attempted 16 second half shots, but couldn’t get them past the sophomore who made 10 of her saves over the final 45 minutes of action to preserve the Saints’ 2-0 victory.
The Syracuse, New York native Monds came off the bench on Friday night against Tournament host Mercer at the Mercer Invitational. She tallied her first collegiate goal - the game-winner- to lead Siena to a 2-0 victory over the Bears.
The Saints return to action as they take on crosstown rival UAlbany at UAlbany on Sunday, Sept. 3. Match is set for 6 p.m.
