Six Lady Scots Find The Net In 7-0 Victory Over Spelman
ATLANTA, Ga. -- Hannah Weichbrodt, Margaret Cross, Teagan Wood, Kara Lee, Mary Buys, and Beth Wilkening all scored in Wednesday night’s conference matchup between the Covenant women’s soccer team and the Lady Jaguars of Spelman College. With the 7-0 victory, the Lady Scots improve to 3-6-1 overall and 2-1 in the Great South. Spelman drops to 4-5-1 overall and 1-3-1 in the GSAC.
The Lady Scots opened up the scoring in the 35th minute off the foot of Hannah Weichbrodt. Mary Buys had the assist.
Nearly 12 minutes later and into the second half, Covenant blew the game wide open with 3 goals in a span of 6 minutes. Senior Margaret Cross scored in the 47th minute before freshman Teagan Wood notched two goals in the 50th and 53rd. Eliza Drew assisted both of Wood’s goals along with another from Kara Lee in the 65th minute.
Weichbrodt returned the favor to Buys in the 80th minute, assisting Buys’ first collegiate goal.
Sophomore Beth Wilkening capped off the scoring with an unassisted goal in the closing minutes.
Covenant will return home for its Homecoming on Saturday, October 8 at 5:00 p.m. against Tennessee Temple University. Homecoming fireworks will be displayed shortly after the women & men’s doubleheader Saturday evening.
