SJSU Shutout, 3-0, By #10-Georgetown
San Jose, Calif. --- San José State surrendered and early goal to #10-ranked Georgetown early and was unable to come back in a 3-0 loss at the Spartan Soccer Complex on Sunday afternoon.
Hoyas forward Meaghan Nally opened up the scoring in the seventh minute when she found herself unmarked at the top of the 18 on the right wing. She shot it over Spartan keeper Paige Simoneau and into the back of the net.
Georgetown (4-2-0) put six out of 11 shots on goal for the match while San José State (1-4-0) put two of five on frame. Both shots on goal were by Dorthe Hoppius in the second half when the Spartans' attack had more life.
Carson Nizialek scored the second goal for the Hoyas in the 42nd minute, then Caitlin Farrell put in the third tally later in the 75th minute.
Simoneau finished the match with three saves and fell to 0-2-0 in 2017. Arielle Schechtman moved to 4-2-0 with the shutout for Georgetown.
The Spartans take on Cal Poly in their next match, schedule for 2:00 p.m. (PT) on Friday, September 8, at the Spartan Soccer Complex.
