Caleb Smith played DI soccer at SMU from 2015-2018. He will be writing about his rookie season in the USL Championship with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds throughout the 2019 campaign.
Growing up, my mom called my siblings and I, Smitty. She casually used that name but added a drop of swag. With my name starting with a C, my mom added the C in front and the nickname Csmitty was born. At every soccer game, my mom yelled, “bend it like Csmitty!” or the typical “let’s go Csmitty!”. After a while, it became my trademark name as my teammates, friends, and relatives referred to me as Csmitty.
