SMU W-Soccer: Signs Six For 2015
SMU women’s soccer head coach Chris Petrucelli and the coaching staff announced the signing of six student-athletes for the 2015 recruiting class on Wednesday.
Catie Brown, Katie Carr, Hannah Fleet, Haley Thompson, Blair Thorpe and Kat Wood have all signed to play for the program in 2015.
“The group as a whole is talented,” said Petrucelli. “There are a number of players that have the chance to step in and play right away. There are players that play a variety of positions and cover both the left and right side of the field. We had a number of things we were looking for in the class. We needed to get more athletic, we needed to find some players who can play off the left side, we needed to find players who can score and we needed some quality depth at a few positions. I feel like we’ve accomplished all of these things with this group of players. They are players that are serious about the game, want to get better and want to win. This is a group that will help our team a great deal in the fall.”
With this class, the Mustangs bring in a goalkeeper (Brown), two defenders (Thompson, Wood), two midfielders (Carr, Thorpe) and one forward (Fleet).
