Soccer Starts Season With Win Over SBU, 1-0
Fayette, Iowa - The St. Cloud State University women's soccer team kicked off their 2013 campaign on the road Thursday as they took on Southwest Baptist University in the Peacock Tournament. The Huskies defeated Bearcats by a final of 1-0.
The Huskies took an early 1-0 lead at the 17:29 mark of the game as Ally Herod shot to the right side of the net from 15 yards out off an assist by Gabby Fleck.
In the game SBU outshot the Huskies by a margin of 28-15.
Sophomore Brittany Plombon was in the goal for the Huskies recording 11 saves to earn the shutout victory over the Bearcats.
The Huskies (1-0) will be back in action on Friday, September 6 as they take on Maryville University. The game is set to start at 12:30 p.m. from Fayette, Iowa.
