Soccer Tie Tulsa 0-0 in Double Overtime
HOUSTON - The University of Houston soccer team battled Tulsa to a 0-0, double-overtime draw on Sunday afternoon at Robertson Stadium. The Cougars are now 4-4-2 on the season.
Houston came out strong in the first half with some good scoring opportunities but was unable to net the ball.
"The game was good," head coach Chris Pfau said. "We did some good things in the first half. We talked about this before we went into conference, if we are doing good things with the ball we've got to put some shots on and score."
The fast pace of the first half, showed in the second as the Cougars struggled to maintain possession of the ball.
"We did enough to score some goals in the first half," Pfau said. "The pace came back and bit us when we lost our legs in the second half."
The Cougars battled through the rest of the second half and managed to hold the Golden Hurricane scoreless for the remaining 45 minutes of play to push the match in the second straight overtime.
"The great thing is we battled through it," Pfau said. "Early in the season we would have lost this game and it really shows our progression. I'm really excited about that."
