Soccer’s Unbeaten Streak Snapped at 8 Games
Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. - The Queens College men’s soccer team saw its eight-game unbeaten streak halted by Mercy in a to 2-0 loss to the Mavericks on Saturday in Dobbs Ferry. The setback was the first in East Coast Conference play for the Knights in 2013 and their first loss since the opening match against Bentley on September 5. The streak was composed of six wins (two ECC wins) and a pair of ties.
In goal, Sean Geoghegan suffered his second loss of the season as he surrendered goals to Danny Leon, Jr. and Michael Ledesma. Offensively, the Knights were held to two shots on goal, one by Jose Lopez and the other by Tyler Iocco. Both of those shots were successfully saved by last year’s Second Team All-Conference Goalie Nick Papas, who recorded his seventh win of the season.
The Knights will return to the pitch on Saturday, October 12, when they travel to Sparkill, New York to take on the St. Thomas Aquinas Spartans at 2:30 PM.
