St. Cloud State Snaps Streak With 0-0 Tie at UIU
Fayette, Iowa - The St. Cloud State University soccer team (4-7-1, 2-5-1 NSIC) ended a four-game losing streak with a 0-0 tie at the Univeristy of Upper Iowa (4-5-2, 2-3-2 NSIC) on Sunday, Oct. 9, in Fayette, Iowa.
St. Cloud State goalkeeper sophomore Kenzie Hanzlik (Stillwater) marked her fourth shutout of the season for the Huskies, as she collected five saves in 110 minutes of play at UIU. Peacock goalkeeper Amanda Smith added six saves in the nets for UIU.
In the contest, UIU marked 16 shots and the Huskies had 10. Upper Iowa also had a 12-5 margin in corner kicks against SCSU in the contest.
On the field, SCSU was led by junior midlfielder Mary Mohrhardt (Gilbert, Ariz.), sophomore midfielder Kara Dahman (Waunakee, Wis.) and junior defender Shannon Sorensen (Shoreview) with two shots apiece.
The Huskies will return to action on Oct. 14 with a 7 p.m. match at Concordia-St. Paul in St. Paul, Minn.
Fans should mark their calendars for Oct. 22, which is the day that SCSU returns to Husky Stadium for a 1 p.m. game against Northern State.
The game has been designated as Becker Youth Soccer Day at SCSU. All Becker area youth soccer players (8th grade and under) will be admitted FREE to the game when they wear their team jersey.
