Stags Fall 1-0 In Double Overtime At Yale

The Fairfield University women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 double-overtime decision to host Yale University Monday night in New Haven, Conn. The loss drops the Stags to 9-5-2 on the year, while the Bulldogs improve to 7-7-0 on th year.
The Bulldogs had the better of the overtime periods, outshooting the Stags 7-0 in the 13:17 of extra time. The game-winning tally came as Shannon Conneely send the ball to the top of the box where Frannie Coxe crossed it to Anne Song who beat Kathleen Early to the far post.
Early finished the game with four saves, including two in the first overtime period. Elise Wilcox stopped three shots in earning the clean sheet in net for Yale.
For the game, the Stags were outshot 16-9 and the Bulldogs had a 7-1 edge in corner kicks.
The Stags close out the regular season with a pair of Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) games at home this weekend. Fairfield hosts Saint Peter's at 7 p.m. on Friday night, with a the senior ceremony beginning at 6:50 p.m. The regular season closes at home on Sunday when the Stags host Manhattan at 1 p.m.
Fairfield has clinched a berth in the upcoming MAAC Championship, and begin the final weekend of league play tied for first-place with 18 points, at 6-1, with Marist.
