Streak to 13 as No. 7 Warhawks Tops Aurora
With a goal in each half, the No. 7 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's soccer team defeated Aurora University 2-0 to win their 13th straight match and improve to 14-1 overall. The road win came in the Warhawks' final non-conference game of the regular season. The loss dropped the Spartans to 3-8-2.
The Warhawk defense did not allow a single shot in the first half, and allowed only three in the entire match.
Meanwhile, on offense, the Warhawks fired off 19 shots, two higher than their season average.
Oddly enough, they scored each goal 1:58 into the start of the game and the start of the second half.
UW-W's first goal came off the foot of Karina Rosales (Batavia, Ill./Batavia), making her third start of the season.
The Warhawks' tallied their second goal when Rosales found Carly Pottle (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East) for her seventh goal of the season.
Sara Klimisch (Pleasant Prairie, Wis./Indian Trail High School and Academy) earned her sixth shutout of the season, recording two saves in the match.
UW-W has four games remaining on their regular season schedule, all against Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponents.
Up next, the Warhawks, 3-0 in the league and tied for first with UW-La Crosse, will host UW-River Falls on Saturday at 4 p.m. at Fiskum Field in Whitewater.
