Talented Quartet to join UNC Wilmington
A group of four high school standouts, including three from the State of North Carolina, has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend UNCW and play for the Seahawks' women's soccer team for the 2015 season, it has been announced by Coach Paul Cairney.
Olivia Szeker-Cortes of West Nyack, N.Y. will join local products Tasha Pate of Durham, N.C., Blair Pearce of Newport, N.C. and Katie Stokely of Wilson, N.C. as members of the Seahawks' incoming class.
"With the graduation of only one senior, we knew that we would have a small yet select incoming class," Coach Cairney said. "These four players will add depth and competition to our 2015 team. In addition to our signees, we also have several outstanding walk-ons who will be joining us this fall."

Tasha Pate
Position: Midfield
Hometown: Durham, N.C.
High School (Coach): Jordan High School (MK Napier)
Club Team: TFCA
Highlights: Three-year letter winner for coaches Sarah Kaneko and MK Napier … helped Falcons reach third round of the NCHSAA state tournament … member of two-time conference championship team … also played volleyball for the Falcons.
Blair Pearce
Position: Midfield
Hometown: Newport, N.C.
High School (Coach): West Carteret High School (Joanna Dodge)
Club Team: OCSA
Highlights: Two-time all-state and all-conference selection for the Patriots … earned team MVP honors as a sophomore and junior … four-sport athlete who also competes on volleyball, basketball and track teams … helped Falcons win state indoor and outdoor track and field championship in 4x800 relay as a sophomore.
Katie Stokely
Position: Defense
Hometown: Wilson, N.C.
High School: Fike High School (Toni Varachi)
Club Team: CASL ECNL
Highlights: Three-year letter winner for the Golden Demons … has scored 44 goals with 41 assists in scholastic career … helped Fike claim three straight conference championships … member of East regional finalist team as a junior … named as conference player of the year as a junior while receiving all-region and all-state notice … also selected to all-conference team as a sophomore … two-sport athlete who also competes for Golden Demons' swimming team.

Club Team: NJ Stallions
Highlights: Two-year letter winner for the Vikings who trained with club team as a senior … helped Vikings reach Section I finals as a freshman and junior … earned first team all-county honors … led Vikings with 19 goals as a freshman.
