TDS Men's DI Top 25: February 1
Despite the fact that Georgetown didn't compete in the fall of 2020, the Hoyas still enter the spring portion of the 2020-21 season as the No. 1 team in the first Men's Division I Top 25.
The Hoyas did have four players selected in the 2021 MLS Draft, but as of publication, Rio Hope-Gund, Paul Rothrock, Derek Dodson and Jacob Montes (another pro prospect) are expected to compete for at least part of the season. Along with a top-ranked recruiting class added for 2020, Georgetown has what it takes to repeat this spring.
Clemson, which won the 2020 ACC tournament, begins the season as the No. 2 side. Philip Mayaka has signed a contract with MLS and is set to begin his pro career this spring with the Colorado Rapids. But Kimarni Smith (D.C. United) and Justin Malou (Columbus Crew) are expected to return for the spring season, adding much needed quality and experience. Grayson Barber did turn pro and sign a contract with Sporting KC, but the Tigers have the quality and depth to maintain a high level.
Another ACC contender returns its full contingent of fall talent, as Pittsburgh seeks to carry over the excellent form of the 2020 fall campaign into a spring title challenge. The Panthers start at No. 3 in the Top 25, followed by Stanford and a Wake Forest side that lost significant talent to the pro level.
