TDS Women's Division I Top 25: August 28
It was a weekend full of upsets in the women's Division I Top 25.
The No. 1 team Penn State survived a difficult road test against Arkansas, but there were a number of massive upsets that left an impact.
Stanford's third striaght road game saw the Cardinal drop a 3-2 loss against Florida, thanks to a late goal from Lais Araujo. On the strength of the victory, the Gators slot in at No. 3 behind No. 2 UCLA.
Virginia checks in at No. 4, jumping all the way into the top five thanks to a tight 2-1 win against West Virginia on Thursday in Morgantown. The Cavaliers consolidated their perfect record by topping Liberty 2-0 at home on Sunday.
Dormant USC moved into the No. 5 spot, though that stemmed more from the fact that so many top teams suffered losses. Florida State lost 1-0 on the road against Alabama, while No. 13 North Carolina lost 2-1 in overtime against UCF.
South Carolina also suffered its first loss of the season, as Wake Forest edged the SEC outfit in Winston-Salem. On the back of that win, the Demon Deacons slot into the No. 23 spot, with a 4-0 start to the 2017 season.
