TDS Women's Top 25: Sept. 15-21
Is Pepperdine ready to make a push towards the top 10?
The Waves have bounced around the United States so far this sesaon, going from Malibu, to Hawaii, to a weekend spent in Cincinnati, Ohio and Kentucky.
Thus far, it's led to a record of 6-1-1 and the No. 12 spot in this week's TopDrawerSoccer.com Women's Top 25. The latest road trip, which featured games against Xavier and Kentucky, saw senior Lynn Williams continue to dazzle, as she scored the game-winning strikes in both outings, three goals in total.
UCLA continues its reign at the No. 1 spot, winning its lone game of the past week, 2-1 against Wake Forest. The goal conceded against the Demon Deacons snapped the Bruins' shutout streak of 638 minutes to start the season. Sam Mewis notched another for UCLA, scoring the eventual game winner in the first half.
No. 2 Virginia kept its spot on the strength of a pair of tricky wins against Tennessee and Hofsta(w), as they were without the services of star midfielder Morgan Brian. The rest of the top five remained unchanged, as Virginia Tech, Stanford and Florida State all won.
DePaul and Oklahoma jumped into the Top 25 as well.
