HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Senior forward Nick Telle (Union, N.J./Roselle Catholic) recorded the first two-goal game of his career, leading the Centenary College men's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Penn State-Brandywine Wednesday night at Morrison Field.
Freshman Luis Marin (Union City, N.J./Union Hill) sent a lead pass to junior Quinn Khouri (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty), who connected on a crossing pass to Telle for the game's opening goal in the 22nd minute.
Telle added his second score just before halftime as he fired a shot between PSB goalkeeper Nick Previti's legs for a 2-0 lead. Sophomore Abiodun Lawal (Lagos, Nigeria/Irvington (N.J.)assisted on the goal.
The Cyclones maintained their two-goal advantage until the 89th minute when Bradley Jule scored off a free kick in front of the net. The Lions (2-4) continued to threaten in the match's waning moments, but could not tie the score.
Sophomore goalkeeper Jesse Goleman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Taylor Allderdice) stopped a pair of shot to earn his third victory of the year, while Previti blocked three for the Lions.
Centenary controlled play for much of the game, attempting five of the match's six corner kicks and 19 shots, compared to just eight for the Lions.
