Terriers Blank Howard, 3-0
St. Francis Brooklyn scored two early goals and cruised to a 3-0 victory against the Howard Bison, on Saturday afternoon at Brooklyn Bridge Park. The Terriers (4-3-2) are now 3-0-2 over their last five contests and have won two straight.
The Terriers dominated the opening half as they outshot the Bison (1-7-2) by an 11-2 margin.
Salvatore Barone scored the game-winner just 6:42 into the match, the second straight contest that the senior has scored in. Junior midfielder Dominick Falanga set-up the play as he found Barone with a feed from the right corner of the box. Barone then sent a low shot into the far corner, beating Howard goalkeeper Kenneth Hersey.
The hosts struck again in the 17th minute as senior forward Yussuf Olajide ended up with a deflection, and found himself in a one-on-one situation with Hersey. Olajide made Hersey commit from his position and then deposited the ball into the back of the net for his third tally of the season.
Freshman Amir Islami gave the Terriers an insurance goal early in the second-half as he gathered in a deflection, took a dribble, and beat Hersey from 10 yards out. The goal, which came just thirty-seven seconds into the stanza, was the first of Islami's career.
Roberto Bazzichetto made five saves in 75 minutes in goal for St. Francis Brooklyn.
The Terriers will travel to George Washington on September 28th.
