Terriers Thump Howard, 5-0, In D.C.

The St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers (5-0-2) erupted for three first-half goals en route to a 5-0 victory over the Howard Bison, Sunday afternoon at Greene Stadium in Washington, D.C.
The Terriers, who increased their unbeaten streak to seven, saw five different goal scorers in the match. Sophomores Dominick Falanga, Federico Curbelo, and freshman Leonard Kirschner scored in the first half. Junior Sal Barone and sophomore Lukas Hauer added tallies in the second half for the visitors.
SFBK created their first chance in the 10thminute. Senior midfielder John Makaya had his header denied by Howard's goalkeeper Sam Howard.
The Terriers struck for the first time in the 19th minute for what turned out to be the game-winner. Senior Vincent Bezecourt, who increased his point scoring streak to six games, put a corner kick on to the foot of Falanga, who beat Howard for his first goal of the season.
The SFBK offense struck again 10 minutes later. This time Curbelo was able to head a pass from Makaya past Howard for his first career goal to make it 2-0.
In the 35th minute the Terriers scored their third goal of the half. Kirschner received a cross from junior Yussuf Olajide in front of the goal and beat Howard for his first goal as a Terrier.
Barone almost made it 4-0 in the 38thminute, but his try was denied by Howard.
Howard almost cut the Terrier lead to two in the 45th minute but Joel Cunningham's header hit the crossbar.
The Bison came back with a chance in the 67th minute. Mickinley Smith fired a shot on goal which was denied by red-shirt senior Jack Binks.
St. Francis Brooklyn increased their lead a minute later when Barone was able to beat Howard on an unassited goal.
The Terriers scored again in the 83rdminute. Hauer received a pass from Tomas De Andrade and directed the ball into the back of the net for his first collegiate goal.
Binks picked up his fifth shutout of the season in the victory.
SFBK look to remain unbeaten when they travel to the University of Rhode Island to play the Rams. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m.
