Three second half goals vault King over Cars
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – What was shaping out to be a rough game for the King University men's soccer team turned at the 48th minute mark when Faber Bickerstaffeevened the score at one. The Tornado netted two more goals in the next 14 minutes to take the lead and defeat 2013 national runner-up Carson-Newman University.
From the opening whistle, King (2-3) was threatened by Carson-Newman. The Eagles tallied five shots in the first 15 minutes of the game forcing Cameron Sauro to make a big save.
In the 34th minute, the Eagles got a goal after continuously pounding the Tornado back line. Off a deflected shot, Wagner hit a one-timer past Sauro to make the score 1-0. King continued to fight but nothing would go their way. Going into the half, King was down 1-0.
As the second half started, the Tornado came out strong, looking to put one into the back of the net and even the score at one. Just a short three minutes into the half, Bickerstaffe posted the first goal of his career. Chris Hicks delivered the ball to Bickerstaffe who put it past the Eagles keeper.
The Tornado continued the attack and in the 58th minute when Zachary Clark added the go-ahead goal for King. Alfred Schwab passed the ball across the box and Clark was there to rip the ball into the back of the net and make the score King 2, Carson-Newman 1.

Carson-Newman tallied four shots shortly after Hall's goal and in the 69th minute, Kari Sveinsson, who came in at the half for Sauro, made a save to keep the score at 3-1.
Carson-Newman (0-3) continued to threaten the Tornado and it eventually worked out for them. Sindre Welo received a cross through the box from Tanner Heath and shot it past Sveinsson making the score 3-2. Heath put a shot on net two minutes later but Sveinsson made another save.
During the last minutes of the game, King tallied multiple shots and corner kicks keeping the ball in the Eagles end of the field.
When the clock struck the 90th minute the Tornado celebrated their win over the 2013 national runner-up. King was outshot 18-13 but had seven shots on goal compared to the Eagles six. Sauro and Sveinsson combined for four saves.
