Titans Beat Green Bay, 2-1
September 9, 2011
Senior Kevin Venegas' goal in the 72nd minute broke a 1-1 tie and carried Cal State Fullerton to a 2-1 victory over Green Bay Friday afternoon in the opening match of the UNLV Nike Invitational Men's Soccer Tournament.
The win lifted the Titans to 3-0-1 in their best start since 2007 and dropped the Phoenix to 1-1-1. UNLV plays USF tonight in the other match of the tourney.
Venegas' goal, his third in two matches, came about 4 minutes after Green Bay's Tony Walls had tied the match at 1-1. Fullerton had taken a 1-0 lead on an own goal off a Phoenix player.
Fullerton plays USF on Sunday.
