Titans Light Up Blue Devils, 5-0
DETROIT (8/23/2017) -- Five different Titans scored goals and the defense was stout again as the University of Detroit Mercy women's soccer team cruised past Lawrence Tech, 5-0, on Wednesday afternoon at Titan Field.
The Titan offense outshot LTU, 28-2, as the red, white and blue ran its shutout streak to three-straight games, a school record to start a season.
Senior Rachel DeLuca led the offense with a goal and two assists for a career-best four points, and junior Marina Manzo needed just two saves in net.
Detroit Mercy will now have a week off before playing three games in five days next week, starting with a trip to Pittsburgh next Wednesday, Aug. 30.
First Half
- The Titans came out firing with 11 shots in the first half and holding Lawrence Tech to no shot attempts.

- Nearly two minutes later, freshman Rachel Russo notched her fourth goal in two games taking a pass from freshman Rima Youssef and burying it in the net.
- The Titans third goal in the first half came from junior Caitlin Carroll as DeLuca set her up off a corner kick and she was able to head it in at the 35:22 mark.
Second Half
- DeLuca was the instigator again as she played a ball into the box that found senior Phylisha Drayton and the upperclassman was able to knock it in from the far post with 56:06 on the clock.
- The final marker saw a pair of rookies working together as Olivia Parra got possession off a corner kick and got the ball to Kelli Doyle, who headed in her first collegiate goal to give the Titans a 5-0 lead with just over 30 minutes left.
