Tooren Nets Two in UW-W's Third Straight Win
Chrissy Tooren (Hoffman Estates, IL/Hoffman Estates) scored the game tying and go ahead goal in a 3-1 victory over fifteenth ranked Augustana Wednesday in Rock Island, Illinois. The win is the third straight for UW-W as they improve to 4-3-0 this season. The loss is the first of the season for Augustana who is now 5-1-0.
Augustana scored an early goal to grab a 1-0 lead when Morgan Olsen slipped a ball past UW-W goalkeeper Jordan Myers (Aurora, IL/Waubonsie Valley) in the sixth minute.
Tooren answered the call scoring her first goal of the game, and third of the season, in the 32nd minute on a corner kick from Jessica Allemang (Wauwatosa/West). The assist is Allemang's first of the year.
The score remained 1-1 going into halftime, but fourteen minutes into the second half the Warhawks grabbed a 2-1 lead on an unassisted goal by Tooren. The two goals by Tooren give her 31 career goals, one shy of fifth place in the UW-W record book.
Tooren had a hand, or shall we say foot, in the third goal as well, providing the assist for Jenna Woodson (Menomonee Falls/Menomonee Falls) to go up 3-1. The same two hooked up in the same fashion in UW-W's last game to score the game winning goal in overtime against Concordia (WI).
Myers made three saves in the game and improves to 4-3-0 as goalkeeper.
The Warhawks will look to extend their win streak to four on September 22 when they host UW-La Crosse in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match beginning at 6:00 pm at Fiskum Field in Whitewater.
