Top 100 women’s college soccer players list
The 2013 college soccer season will kick off for the women in the coming weeks, as players are reporting to teams across the country this week for the first official practices of the preseason.
Last week, TopDrawerSoccer.com released its preseason best XI lists. Today, TDS releases its preseason top 100 player rankings. Freshman are excluded from this ranking, but will be recognized during the midseason update with the freshman top 100 player update.
Also, TopDrawerSoccer.com will be releasing a top 20 player ranking list for every conference, which will be revealed in the coming weeks. As with all college rankings, the staff at TopDrawerSoccer.com was wholly responsible for the top 100 women’s college soccer players list.
North Carolina senior and MAC Hermann Trophy winner Crystal Dunn sits in the top spot after enjoying a historic junior campaign in 2012 that culminated in an NCAA Tournament championship in December. The dynamic playmaker will be key to the Tar Heels’ bid to repeat as National Champions.
Following Dunn on the top 100 women’s college soccer players list is Santa Clara star Julie Johnston, who had eight goals and five assists as a junior with the Broncos last season. Johnston is a two-time MAC Hermann Trophy Semi-Finalist as well as the 2010 West Coast Conference Freshman of the Year. She is a versatile player that will be looking to leave a lasting legacy in the WCC in her final campaign.
Supremely skilled midfielders Vanessa DiBernardo (Illinois), Morgan Brian (Virginia), and Sarah Killion (UCLA) round out the top five. Nittany Lion striker Maya Hayes checks in at number six after scoring 47 goals in her past two seasons with Penn State.
Dunn’s teammate at North Carolina Kealia Ohai falls in at number seven. Ohai, like many on this list, missed part of last season due to youth national team commitments, but still managed to lead the Tar Heels in goals (nine) and points (23).
Chioma Ubogagu (Stanford), Kassey Kallman (Florida State), and Daphne Corboz (Georgetown) round out the top ten.
