TopDrawerSoccer Women's DI Top 25: Sept. 10
Stanford held off its biggest challenge of the season thus far, edging North Carolina with a 2-1 win in overtime on Sunday.
The Tar Heels went 0-2 on a tough road trip to California, dropping Sunday's match as well as a 1-0 loss against Santa Clara. It's a test that surely will pay dividends later on in the season.
Another side that passed its toughest test to date was Virginia, the No. 2 side in this week's rank. Facing a relatively straightforward schedule at home prior to Sunday's meeting against Penn State, the Cavaliers managed to extend its record to 7-0 by beating the Nittany Lions 2-1 in State College.
Florida State, Texas A&M and USC round out the top five as conference action gets set to take a more prominent stage this week.
