Tough Loss in Durango; Rangers Fall 1-0 to Skyhawks
DURANGO, Colo.: Ranger men's soccer put in a gallant effort on the road this afternoon against Fort Lewis College, but heartbreakingly fell short after giving up a goal early in the second half.
Freshman keeper Connor Adkisson put in quite the effort, making 10 saves on the day, nine in the first half alone as the Skyhawks challenged the Rangers with 20 shots to RUs 13 on the day.
The Rangers put on six to test the FLC goalie, but he was up to the task, denying them all throughout 90:00 minutes of play and shutting out Regis.
Tempers were hot on the home team side, as the Skyhawks were charged with three yellow cards and one red throughout the match, three of which penalties were given within the four-minute mark of the clock running out.
It was the Rangers' first loss after going on a seven-game streak without giving one up.
Rangers move to an 8-2-1 record and 7-2-1 record in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
Next, Regis will return home and take on UC-Colorado Springs on Friday, Oct. 25 at 1:00 p.m. before hosting Colorado School of Mines for Senior Day on Sunday, Oct. 27 at 3:00 p.m.
