Trine and Aurora Play to a Scoreless Tie
CHICAGO - In their final road game before their home opener, the Trine University men’s soccer team played to a 0-0 double overtime tie with Aurora University. Trine’s record now sits a 1-1-1 on the year.
In the opening half, the Thunder were out-shot 11-3 by the Spartans but the Trine defense and junior goalie Chris Stewart (Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester) held Aurora off the scoreboard.
Both defenses stepped up in the second half as the two sides combined for just seven shots, none of which came on goal.
In the first overtime, both teams had an opportunity to secure the win. In the 93rd minute, senior David Duquette’s (Wilmington, Ohio/Wilmington) shot attempt was saved by the Aurora goalie. Then in the 96th minute, it would be Stewart with the game-saving stop on a Spartans shot attempt.

Duquette led Trine with two shots on goal for the day. Stewart finished the afternoon with five save in goal for the Thunder.
