Trine Women Fall to Dutch
HOLLAND, Mich. - In their first night game of the season the Trine University women’s soccer team fell to Hope College 4-0. The Flying Dutch scored three goals in the first half that the Thunder were unable to recover from as they fell to 1-4 on the season and 0-3 in the MIAA.
Hope would score their first in the 15th minute. Just before the half, the Flying Dutch would score at 43:30 and then just 1:13 later. Hope would out-shoot the Thunder 10-4 in the half.
Less than 10 minutes into the second half Hope would tack on their final goal of the match.
In the final frame, the Thunder were able to put two of their three shots on target, but were unable to find the back of the net.
For the match, sophomore Skyler Reed (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll) led all players with three shot attempts. Reed, junior Amy Williams (Garrett, Ind./Northrop) and freshman Katie Gokey (Seville, Ohio/Cloverleaf) each had a shot on goal.
In goal for the Thunder, senior Jamie Schnarr (Kettering, Ohio/Kettering Fairmont) made six saves on the night.
Trine will next travel to Adrian for another night game on Sept. 18 beginning at 7 p.m.
