Tulsa Battles Missouri State to 0-0 Tiie
– The Tulsa men’s soccer team battled Missouri State to a 0-0 double-overtime tie on Tuesday night at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium. TU moved to 3-7-2 on the season, while MSU moved to 7-0-4 overall.
“I thought defensively we were pretty good tonight,” Head Coach Tom McIntosh said. “Overall we didn’t give up too many good chances. We created some good chances, especially early in the second half. We hit the post, so really unlucky there, and had some close shots on corner kicks, but we couldn’t get one to go in. I thought the guys fought hard, which I am proud of. We are pleased to come away with the shutout, work on that side of our game and continue to get better.”
The two teams battled for 110 minutes, but neither team found the back of the net. Both teams had 12 shots, while the Bears had a 6-3 lead in shots on goal. TU had a 6-4 edge in corner kicks.
Miguel Velasquez had a team-best three shots, while Ryan Alpers and Gilles Kuhler both had two attempts. Bryson Reed logged all 110 minutes in goal and picked up six saves.
Tulsa will return to action on Saturday, October 13 at Cincinnati. Game time is set for 6:00 pm Central in Cincinnati, Ohio.
