Tulsa Drops 2-1 OT Decision to Ark. State
With just 33-seconds remaining on the clock in the first overtime period, Arkansas State’s Hailey Furio headed in a score to give the Red Wolves a 2-1 win over the Tulsa women’s soccer team on Friday night at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium. TU fell to 1-2-1 on the season, while ASU moved to 2-0-2 overall.
Fabi Miguel, in her first game at TU, put one into the back of the net at the 36:49 mark as she drilled in an attempted clear by the Red Wolves to give the Golden Hurricane a 1-0 advantage. Sarah Sodoma evened the score in the 67th minute as she shot from five yards out off a cross from Maggie Ertl.
Furio’s goal was scored in the 100th minute on a rebound attempt from Ertl which hit the cross bar.
Tulsa had an 18-10 lead in shots, including a 9-7 advantage in shots on goal, while ASU had a 5-1 lead in corner kicks.
Miguel, Reagan Whitlow, Anna Williams and Alyssa Kaiser each had a team-best three shots, while Valiree Morris added two attempts. Mica MacKay logged all 99:27 in goal and picked up four saves.
Tulsa will return to action on Sunday, September 2 against Sam Houston State. Game time is set for 2:00 pm at the Hurricane Stadium.
