Tulsa Edges Indiana State, 1-0
Elisabetta Impagliazzo scored her second career goal in as many games to give Tulsa a 1-0 win over Indiana State on Friday night at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium. TU moved to 7-0 on the season, while ISU fell to 3-4 overall.
“Indiana State is a good team and we knew that they were going to come in and battle,” Head Coach Kyle Cussen said. “I thought we didn’t have a sense of urgency in the first half, but in the second half we played a little better. We made some mistakes that are uncharacteristic of this team.”
Impagliazzo’s goal came at the 51:41 mark as she scored from three yards off a cross from Annie Sohmer.
“I thought Annie and Elisabetta came in and gave us a spark in the second half,” Cussen said. “I was proud of that and proud of our team, but the challenge this weekend is playing two games back-to-back. Now we have to recover quickly and get ready for tomorrow’s game.”
Rachel Thun had a team-best five shots, Tana Dake added four attempts and Alexa Sidorakis had three shots. Courtney McKeon logged all 90 minutes between the posts, picked up three saves and earned her third shutout on the season.
TU had a 22-12 lead in shots, including a 13-3 advantage in shots on goal, and a 9-2 lead in corner kicks.
Tulsa will return to action tomorrow against Incarnate Word. Game time is set for 7:30 pm at the Hurricane Stadium.
