Tulsa Falls to Cincinnati, 1-0
The Tulsa women’s soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Cincinnati on Sunday afternoon at Gettler Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio. TU fell to 13-5-1 on the season and ended with a 4-4-1 mark in American Athletic Conference play, while the Bearcats moved to 11-5-4 overall and 5-3-1 in the league.
After the contest, The American announced the bracket for the 2015 Championship, where TU earned the No. 5 seed and will face No. 4 seed Cincinnati on Tuesday, November 3rd at 11:00 am at SMU’s Westcott Field in Dallas, Texas.
“We played well today,” Head Coach Kyle Cussen said. “We had a goal that was disallowed in the first half and created several chances in the second half that we were unfortunate not to score on, but we will face them again on Tuesday in the first round of The American Championship in Dallas.”
Jaycie Brown scored the only goal of the contest at the 66:45 mark off a cross from Cassie Wheldon.
Tana Dake and Alexa Sidorakis had a team-best two shots, while six others had one attempt for the Golden Hurricane. Rebecca Defer logged all 90 minutes in goal and picked up four saves.
Cincinnati had a 17-10 lead in shots, including a 5-3 advantage in shots on goal, and a 4-2 lead in corner kicks.
