Tulsa Falls to Temple, 1-0
The Tulsa women’s soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Temple on Thursday afternoon at the Temple Sports Complex in Philadelphia, Pa. The Golden Hurricane fell to 6-9-1 on the season and 2-5 in American Athletic Conference play, while the Owls moved to 7-8-1 overall and 3-3-1 in the league.
“I felt like we came out and didn’t play with a sense of urgency until we got scored on, but we outplayed them, outshot them and had a lot of corner kicks from that point forward,” Head Coach Kyle Cussen said. “I am very disappointed in the result. I thought there was some good individual effort and we were unlucky not to score a couple of goals, but at the end of the day they finished their one good chance they had and we didn’t finish our good chances. In this conference you have to take care of your opportunities on the road.”
Natalie Druehl scored the lone goal of the contest at the 9:27 mark as she shot from 25 yards out off a pass from Gabriela Johnson.
Alyssa Kaiser had a team-leading three shots, while Neha Igwe, Danielle Hoover, Gabriella Borboa and Valiree Morris all had two attempts. Mica MacKay logged all 90 minutes in goal and picked up two saves.
Tulsa had a 14-8 lead in shots, including a 5-3 edge in shots on goal, and a 12-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Tulsa will return to action on Sunday, October 21 against UConn. Game time is set for 12:00 pm Central in Storrs, Conn.
