Tulsa Nets 2-0 Win Over Central Arkansas
The Tulsa women’s soccer team posted a 2-0 win over Central Arkansas on Sunday afternoon at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium. With the win, TU moved to 6-0 on the season, the best start in school history, while UCA fell to 2-4 overall.
“Setting the school record is definitely special, but it is a long season and you don’t make a run at the conference tournament or the NCAA Tournament in the first six games,” Head Coach Kyle Cussen said. “There is something to learn in every game and getting the shutout today, as well as playing well on a Sunday afternoon with tired legs and in the heat was an important part of that.”
Tana Dake put Tulsa on the board at the 12:06 mark as she drilled in a shot from 12 yards out off a pass from Alexa Sidorakis. Neither team found the back of the net in the remainder of the half and TU took a 1-0 lead into the break.
Elisabetta Impagliazzo tallied her first collegiate goal at the 67:00 mark off a rebound attempt taken by Dake that was saved.
Rachel Thun had a team-best seven shots, Dake added three attempts, and Impagliazzo and Anna Martin each had two shots. Courtney McKeon logged all 90 minutes in goal, had one save and earned the shutout.
The Hurricane had a 21-3 lead in shots, including a 12-1 advantage in shots on goal, and a 5-2 lead in corner kicks.
Tulsa will return to action on Friday, September 11th against Indiana State. Game time is set for 7:30 pm at the Hurricane Stadium.
