Tulsa Ties Memphis, 0-0, in Season Finale
The Tulsa women’s soccer team tied Memphis, 0-0, in the season finale on Friday night at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium. TU concluded the year with a 3-12-4 overall record and a 1-6-2 mark in American Athletic Conference play, while the Tigers moved to 10-5-3 overall and 4-2-3 in the league.
After the game, TU honored seven seniors – Amanda Creason, Tana Dake, Rebecca Defer, Christina Holmes, Courtney McKeon, Eden Opie and Rachel Thun-Blankenship.
“We knew going in it was going to be an emotional night because these seven seniors have done an incredible job for our program and been a part of two of the best seasons we’ve ever had, so I’m happy they were able to end on a good note,” Head Coach Kyle Cussen said. “I was very pleased with the effort and we went into the game with a bend, don’t break attitude and we did that.”
The two teams battled for 110 minutes without a score. The Tigers had a 31-7 lead in shots, including a 10-1 advantage in shots on goal, and a 4-2 edge in corner kicks.
Holmes had a team-leading two shots, while five others had one attempt. McKeon and Defer shared time in goal and combined for 10 saves on the night.
