U18 WNT roster released for La Manga trip
The U.S. Under-18 Women’s National Team will compete in the 10 Nations Tournament in La Manga, Spain, traveling to Europe from March 3-13 to face Under-19 teams from Sweden (March 8), Norway (March 10) and France (March 12).
U.S. Women’s Technical Director April Heinrichs has called up 20 players, all but two born in 1996, which is the age cut-off year for the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
Four of the players on the roster are currently in college: defender Niki Romero (UNC), forward Amber Munerlyn (UNC), forward Darian Jenkins (who scored 11 goals for UCLA last season) and Rebecca Rasmussen, who enrolled early at the University of Georgia this spring. The U.S. U-18s will arrive in La Manga as the U.S. U-23s are finishing their competition which will see the oldest of the USA’s Youth National Teams play Japan (March 1), Sweden (March 3) and Norway (March 5).
