U19 WNT kicks off 2016 with camp in Florida
The U.S. Under-19 Women’s National Team kicks off its 2016 programming with a 26-player camp in Lakewood Ranch, Florida, running from Jan. 23-30.
The camp will be run by U.S. Soccer Development Coach Jitka Klimkova. All the players in this age group are eligible for the team that will participate in the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup to be held in Papua New Guinea, and will by trying to make an impression to get called into U-20 camps prior to the World Cup, which is not until November of this year.
Of the 26 players called up, six were born in 1996, which is the age cutoff year for the next U-20 Women’s World Cup. Eighteen players were born in 1997 and two were born in 1998.
More than half the roster (17 players) is made of collegians, while the remainder is still playing youth club soccer.
